Srilanka, Feb. 18 -- A private bus and a van carrying garment factory workers collided head-on in the Wewethenna area on the Kandaketiya-Bopitiya road yesterday (17) morning. The accident resulted in serious injuries to 13 individuals, including nine young women travelling in the van.
The injured were admitted to the Kandaketiya District Hospital. Seven of the critically injured, including the van driver, were later transferred to Mahiyangana Base Hospital for further treatment, according to the Kandaketiya Police. The injured are residents of Kandaketiya, Wewethenna, Bopitiya and nearby areas, aged between 18 and 35, all of whom work at a garment factory in Kandaketiya.
