Sri Lanka, Oct. 4 -- The brother-in-law of notorious underworld figure "Backhoe Saman" has been arrested in Biyagama, believed to have coordinated drug trafficking and contract killings on behalf of the criminal.

Police confirmed that the suspect, identified as Kaveesha, the husband of Backhoe Saman's sister, was apprehended while in possession of 555 grams of heroin, a pistol, and a magazine. He was arrested by officers of the Police Special Task Force (STF) and handed over to the Western Province North Crimes Division.

Kaveesha is currently being questioned under a seven-day detention order, during which authorities are investigating his alleged involvement in organized crime.
