India, June 17 -- The Bribery Commission informed the Colombo Magistrate's Court today (17) that investigations against MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake are still ongoing. The case concerns the alleged withdrawal of fixed deposit accounts belonging to the Uva Provincial Council, causing a financial loss of over Rs. 176,000 to the government during his tenure as Chief Minister in 2016.
The case was heard before Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali. Dassanayake, who is currently out on bail, was present in court.
Bribery Commission officers requested additional time to complete their investigations and present findings to the court. After considering the request, the magistrate scheduled the next hearing for November 18.
