Sri Lanka, April 7 -- The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) yesterday urged all responsible authorities in Universities and other Higher Educational Institutions to take necessary pre-emptive action and incorporate a zero-tolerance policy on ragging.

Issuing a statement, the BASL said that it will closely monitor the case filed by the Samanalawewa Police before the Magistrate's Court of Balangoda against the arrested suspects, following the suicide of a student from the Sabaragamuwa University. The BASL urged the authorities to take all necessary legal measures to ensure the rule of law and the due enforcement of the law.
