Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- The government is set to restart construction on Phase III of the Baseline Road Extension Project, a key infrastructure initiative designed to ease traffic congestion in the capital.
This phase involves constructing a 6-lane highway stretching 0.86 km from the Kirulapone Junction to Dutugemunu Street on the Colombo-Horana road. Although originally approved in 2009, construction was suspended in 2022 following recommendations from the National Committee on Strategy and Acceleration of Large-Scale Development Projects amidst the economic crisis.
