Sri Lanka, Oct. 3 -- Opener Rubya Haider played an unbeaten 54 off 77 balls as the Bangladesh women's team began their World Cup campaign with a strong 7-wicket victory over Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Chasing a target of 130, Bangladesh reached 131 for 3 in 31.1 overs. Haider led the innings with 54 runs, including 8 fours, well-supported by skipper Nigar Sultana, who scored 23 off 44 balls with 5 fours, and Sobhana Mostary, who remained unbeaten on 24 off 19 balls, hitting 6 fours.
