Sri Lanka, Oct. 31 -- Opener Phoebe Litchfield scored a brilliant 119, well supported by Ellyse Perry (77) and Ashleigh Gardner (63), as the Australia Women's team posted 338 in 49.5 overs against India Women in their World Cup semi-final at Navi Mumbai yesterday.
The defending champions elected to bat first, but skipper Alyssa Healy departed early, scoring just 5 off 15 balls, as fast bowler Kranti Gaud claimed her wicket in the 6th over. The 22-year-old left-handed opener Litchfield then led a superb recovery, anchoring the innings after Healy's early exit.
Australia added 72 for the first wicket after the powerplay, and Litchfield shared a 155-run second-wicket stand with Perry, the highlight of the innings.
