Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Colombo High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne today ordered that the case against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, filed over the alleged acquisition of assets worth more than Rs. 75 million, be taken up for evidence on October 22.
The case was filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), which alleges that during his five-year tenure as a Cabinet Minister, Weerawansa acquired assets and properties that could not have been earned through his ministerial salary and other legitimate income sources.
The prosecution informed the court that salary and allowance records of the accused had been submitted, and all necessary documents were served to the defence. Judge Jayaratne said no ...
