Sri Lanka, Feb. 4 -- There is no doubt that the Independence Square and the Memorial building are awe inspiring. It is the result of amazing vision and farsightedness. To envision the future in a meaningful way, and create a building that embodies the Sri Lankan spirit.

Seventy seven years of Independence is a time for pride and reflection. As we do so, the Independence Square can never be far away from our thoughts. The creation of the Independence Square was about new beginnings. With a new government coming into power, this 77th year is also about new beginnings.
