Srilanka, June 11 -- Anuradhapura Prison Superintendent Mohan Karunaratne has been remanded until June 13 after being produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court today (11).

He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on June 8 in connection with the illegal release of an inmate convicted of multiple fraud and corruption offenses. The release reportedly took place under the guise of a presidential amnesty.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities probe potential misuse of power and breach of legal procedures in the incident.
