Sri Lanka, March 14 -- Sri Lanka's Ambassador designate to Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad on Monday (11) said he is trying his utmost to promote bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, during his tenure.

Ajwad, a career diplomat who held a number of key diplomatic postings overseas, said that Saudi Arbia has achieved unprecedented development in the realm of economic, industry and many other fields.

"Having closer ties with Saudi Arabia will definitely be beneficial to Sri Lanka."

He was speaking at a reception hosted by the 'Colombo Times' at Kingsbury Hotel on Monday (11).
