Sri Lanka, July 7 -- Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that according to information received, all schools that reopened yesterday adhered to the recommended health guidelines and assured parents that their children were safe when at school.

The Minister made this statement after observing precautionary measures taken at Mahinda Rajapaksa College, Matara and the Primary Section of Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya, Matara as students of Grade 5, 11 and 13 returned to school after a 116 day vacation last morning.

He said that he would be visiting schools in Hakmana and Kamburupitiya and that two hundred ministry officials were visiting schools in other parts of the Island.
