Sri Lanka, Dec. 6 -- National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Chairman Professor Samadhi Rajapaksa warned that consumption of any quantity of any Alcohol causes cancer.

The NATA Chairman reiterated the warning in the course of his presentation titled 'Implication of Alcohol and Tobacco as Gateway Drugs' at the International Symposium on Drug-Related Studies 2022 convened by the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board last Wednesday.

The term 'Gateway Drugs' is used to explain a theory that the use of certain readily available drugs like Alcohol and Cigarettes may lead to an increased risk in the use of other drugs and involvement in criminal behaviour.
