Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga emphasized that the airports will not reopen until a certification by health authorities is given that the health safety of the citizens has been ensured.

Minister Ranatunga expressed these remarks to journalists addressing a District Committee meeting held at the District Secretariat Office in Gampaha. Minister Ranatunga further emphasized that although the government has controlled the COVID-19 epidemic,we cannot be complacent. We cannot allow the people to take any risks. However, the Minister emphasized that all arrangements have been made for the opening of airports and that the recommendations of the health sector were essential.
