Srilanka, Feb. 18 -- The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) has announced that police officers who have been suspended or are set to rejoin active service for any reason must undergo drug testing as part of an investigation to uncover potential drug use.
Before these officers are reinstated, they are required to take a drug test at the police hospital. The cost of the test
will be borne by the officer undergoing the examination.
In a letter to all officers, the Acting IGP emphasized that any officer found to have used drugs will not be allowed to return to active service.
