Sri Lanka, Jan. 31 -- An accused, found guilty for sexually abusing a minor girl was yesterday sentenced to six years' rigorous imprisonment by the Colombo High Court.

In addition to the sentence, the accused was ordered to pay a compensation of Rs. 100,000 to the victimised girl and ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 50,000 to Court. Following a lengthy trial, Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja observed that the prosecution has been able to prove the allegations against the accused beyond reasonable doubts.

Considering the facts, Colombo High Court Judge ordered to sentence the accused to six years rigorous imprisonment. The judgement was read out to the accused in open Court by Mudliyar Sulaiman Yazeer.
