These amendments establish structured electoral and appointment processes, empower University Councils with removal authority, impose term limits, and mandate role separation to curb conflicts of interest. The Universities [Amendment Act of 2025 represents a step towards good governance within Sri Lankan universities by embedding structured accountability, transparency, and institutional checks in academic leadership.
