Sri Lanka, April 29 -- An Egyptian man, who allegedly absconded from April 13 after being arrested for overstaying in Sri Lanka and sent to a detention centre pending deportation, was arrested by a team of officials from the Immigration Department while he was staying in a hotel in Kandy.

The Immigration officials had taken steps to arrest this Egyptian national on March 27 and sent him to the detention centre. Based on information that he had fled on April 13 and could not be traced, a team from the Immigration Department located and arrested the suspect.

The Department of Immigration and Emigration states that they will present facts to Court and take steps to deport him from the country.
