Sri Lanka, Nov. 20 -- Kalutara District Parliamentarian Rohitha Abeygunawardana urged the government, yesterday, to respect the people's mandate at last week's Presidential Election and dissolve Parliament to make way for Parliamentary elections.

He said parliamentarians should respect the people's mandate and pave the way for general elections without thinking about their pension benefits.

Speaking to the media in Colombo, MP Abeygunawardana said that the public had elected Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the country's President, and that this has sent a clear message to the government that the people no longer want them in power.
