Srilanka, Feb. 20 -- Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala announced that the government is considering holding trials for organized criminals outside traditional courthouses, following discussions with the Ministry of Justice. This move comes in the wake of the recent shooting incident at the Aluthkade courthouse, which raised serious concerns about courtroom security.

Minister Wijepala emphasized that security officers had followed proper procedures during the incident and clarified that firearms are not permitted inside courthouses. He also stated that lawyers would not be subjected to questioning in connection with the incident.
