Sri Lanka, Nov. 6 -- The drive against the narcotics trade is being spearheaded by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake himself. President Dissanayake launched a campaign titled 'A Nation United' or 'Ratama Ekata' at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium last week in the presence of a large and representative gathering.

Addressing the launch of the campaign, the President noted that the narcotics menace has infiltrated political parties. Some individuals have become councillors and chairpersons and others are preparing to contest elections. This network has grown under the protection of certain politicians, he said.
