Sri Lanka, April 17 -- The Kandy District Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) is to prosecute 86 traders in the Kandy District who sold goods during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, not displaying its price, selling expired goods and not having the proper weight, in violation of the CAA Act.

The Kandy District CAA has filed 156 cases through raids till March of this year, and collected fines close to Rs. 400,000.

These raids were conducted in several towns including Kandy city limits, Nawalapitiya, Digana, Theldeniya, Akurana, Galagedara and Murutalawa.
