Sri Lanka, Dec. 26 -- Badulla District Chief Geologist Harshani Perera stated that approximately 80 percent of constructions in the Badulla district have been carried out without approval from the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO).
Perera, representing the NBRO, said that many individuals only seek approval for a construction project when they need a loan or for other legal requirements. She warned that this widespread non-compliance poses a significant threat to the District and could lead to major problems if not regulated.
She made these remarks when asked about the progress of the NBRO's investigations into landslides and other disasters that occurred in the District following the recent adverse weather.
