Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 -- A 16-year-old girl was injured in a shooting incident reported in the Bodhiwatte area of Kohuwala last night, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 10.10 p.m. when two unidentified individuals arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire, and fled the scene.

The girl was reportedly standing in front of her house at the time of the incident.

She sustained gunshot injuries and was admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Police have launched an investigation to identify the suspects related to the incident.
