Srilanka, April 8 -- The Census of Population and Housing 2024 has determined that Sri Lanka's population now stands at 21,763,170. Released yesterday (07), this latest data indicates an increase of 1,403,731 compared to the population reported in the previous Census of Population and Housing conducted in 2012.

This marks the 15th census in Sri Lanka's series, with the enumeration stage carried out from October 2024 to the second week of February 2025. The census moment, the specific point in time for which the data is collected, was set at 00:00 hours on December 19, 2024.
