Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- A 14-year-old boy from the Medagama area has died after being struck by an express train at the Tismalpola railway station in the Rambukkana police division.

The child had reportedly arrived at the station with several friends on a train traveling from Rambukkana to Colombo Fort. Upon getting off, he stepped onto the railway track instead of the platform. At that moment, an express train bound for Colombo Fort from Badulla arrived, fatally striking him.

Preliminary investigations confirm that the boy was hit while on the track. Rambukkana Police are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
