Srilanka, Feb. 17 -- Twelve people, including eight women, were injured in a collision between a private bus and a van transporting garment factory workers on the Kandaketiya-Bopitiya road this morning (17), Kandaketiya Police reported.

The injured were initially admitted to Kandaketiya Regional Hospital, with seven later transferred to Mahiyanganaya Base Hospital for further treatment, according to hospital authorities.

Police stated that the accident occurred at a narrow section of the winding road. The injured individuals are residents of Wewetenna and Bopitiya.

The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined, and Kandaketiya Police are conducting further investigations.
