He made these remarks while participating in the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna's (SLPP) War Heroes' Day commemoration held today (20) near the War Memorial in Battaramulla. The event was also attended by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

"This is not just a ceremony-it's a duty," Mahinda Rajapaksa said. "We didn't fight the war to dominate anyone. We fought to save this country and to bring about lasting peace."

The commemorative event paid tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the conflict.
