Srilanka, March 18 -- JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva yesterday said that the Batalanda Commission was not appointed by the current Government and there were no ulterior motives behind unveiling the report of the commission.

Silva emphasised that the Government was only bringing a report which was hidden from the public, into the public domain.

He stated that a large number of people are ready to testify about what happened in Batalanda and that if proper evidence is presented, not only Ranil Wickremesinghe but many others involved will have to face consequences.

He was speaking to the media yesterday at the party office in Battaramulla.
