Sri Lanka, Jan. 19 -- More than 21,000 Sri Lankans currently work in the Maldives, generating approximately US$ 129 million annually in remittances to their homeland, Sri Lanka-Maldives Business Council Immediate Past President Sudesh Mendis said.
He said a large number of Sri Lankans are working in the Maldivian tourism sector.
"Over the past 52 years, the Maldives has evolved into one of the world's most exclusive luxury destinations. The country now has 168 resorts, 883 guesthouses, 13 hotels, and 152 safari boats, hosting global brands including Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Soneva, Cheval Blanc, St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Hilton, and One&Only.
