Sri Lanka, Nov. 17 -- Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe made 24 foreign trips in 22 months during his Presidency and spent Rs. 1,007.346 million on it, Chief Government Whip and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa told Parliament on Saturday.

"However, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has spent only Rs. 14.9 million on eight foreign trips undertaken in the past one year.

"A huge amount of money has been spent on foreign trips by former Presidents in the past. Those expenses have been reduced by the current President.

"Accordingly, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has made four foreign trips in 2022, and he has taken 64 people with him. A total of Rs. 129.31 million has been spent on these trips.
