Sri Lanka, Sept. 9 -- Parliamentarian Rohitha Abeygunawardena stated that the role of the Opposition is not to remain divided or fragmented. He emphasised that the Opposition carries a responsibility, and fulfilling that duty requires unity.
Speaking to the media yesterday (8), he said, "Even the Government cannot function effectively without a strong Opposition. It is our duty to act as a constructive Opposition. If further repression takes place, we will raise these matters in Parliament, and it will be us who ensure such issues are debated. That is why unity is essential."
