Sri Lanka, Feb. 20 -- The "Maha Sangha Samuluwa" ( Sangha Convention) officially commenced a short while ago at the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress (ACBC) headquarters in Colombo. The event brings together the Maha Sangha from all three main Buddhist chapters (Siam, Amarapura, and Ramanna Nikayas) from across the island.
The convention, which is also open to Buddhist laypeople, aims to address concerns over the decline of national culture and heritage and reaffirm the clergy's role in safeguarding the country's religious and cultural traditions.
