Sri Lanka, Jan. 7 -- Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody informed Parliament yesterday (06) that electricity tariffs will be reduced by 30 percent within three years as per the National People's Power (NPP) Government's policy statement.

The Minister assured the House that the Government will definitely be carrying out its promise made to the public to reduce electricity tariffs.

Responding to a question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Chaminda Wijesiri, as to when the promised electricity tariff reduction for apartments and shopping complexes will be made in 2026, the Minister said, "Don't be in a hurry, be patient for some more time.
