Nairobi, Oct. 30 -- Two people convicted of crimes related to the 2013 Westgate Mall terror attack, which claimed 67 lives, were Friday sentenced to jail.

Mohammed Ahmed Abdi and Hussein Hassan Mustafa will serve 26 and 11-year terms, respectively, Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi ruled after hearing the case for seven years.

"Although the case has taken many years, justice has been done to both the accused and victims," defence lawyers Mbugua Mureithi and Victoria Wanjiku Kariuki, for Mr Abdi, said.

However, Ms Kariuki and Mr Mureithi said they will appeal against their client's sentence.

Lawyer Chacha Mwita, who represented Mr Mustafa, also said he will challenge the sentence at the superior court.
