Uganda, Oct. 15 -- Mr Paul Kawanguzi, has pulled out of the Jinja West Division Member of Parliament (MP) race, leaving Dr Timothy Batuwa Lusala as the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flagbearer.
Mr Kawanguzi said he took the 'very painful decision' after consultations with the party's conflict resolution committee.
"Nobody has forced or paid me to pull out of this race; but for the good of my party, I decided to support and mobilise for the candidates who have stood in various positions on the party ticket," he said on Wednesday.
Mr Batuwa commended Mr Kawanguzi for a decision he said promotes unity in the party.
