Uganda, April 8 -- Vice President Jesca Alupo has lauded the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) for developing the new Muslim constitution.

Ms Alupo said the new constitution is in line with the government's plan to economically empower youth and women.

"We are further proud that the government funded the enormous exercise to collect people's views and come up with such a historical document in the time of your leadership," she said.

She was speaking on Friday during the annual national Iftar dinner organised by UMSC at Old Kampala mosque.

The Vice President also pledged the government's continued partnership with the Muslim leadership and community in a bid to create wealth in people's households and kick out poverty.
