Sri Lanka, March 20 -- The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet presenting her report to UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka yesterday called on the government (Sri Lanka) to implement a detailed and comprehensive strategy for the transitional process with a fixed timeline.

"Legislation on the establishment of an independent Truth and Reconciliation Commission could be an important next step," she said in her report.

She welcomed the operationalization of the Office on Missing Persons (OMP), following initial delay as well as the the establishment of the Office for Reparations, and look forward to the swift appointment of its Commissioners.
