Sri Lanka, Nov. 12 -- Complaints regarding election law violations and election-related violence had increased to 3,627, the Elections Commission said citing District Elections Complaint Management Centre.

The number was as of yesterday (11) since October 8.

The EC said 27 complaints were of election-related violence while 3,494 complaints were of election-law violations.

The EC has set up centres at the Election Secretariat at Rajagiriya and at all district offices.

"These complaint centres have been set up in collaboration with the Police while new laws will be promulgated to prevent issues that are seen to happen routinely during elections," an official at the EC said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
