Sri Lanka, Jan. 23 -- Viraj Dayaratne, PC assumed duties as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), yesterday.

Dayaratne had his education at S. Thomas' Preparatory School, Kollupitiya and S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia.

He entered Sri Lanka Law College in 1989 and was enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, in November 1992.

He is also a graduate from the University of Colombo with a BA in International Relations. He then obtained his Master of Laws specialising in international trade law from the University of Wales.
