Sri Lanka, Jan. 25 -- The Parliamentary High Post Committee (HPC) is reported to have cleared former Supreme Court Judge Eva Wanasundara as the Sri Lankan ambassador to France and Dr. Nalin de Silva as the envoy to Myanmar.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa handpicked them as ambassadors earlier. The Committee, chaired by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and represented by MPs from the government and the opposition, interviewed them on Wednesday with the Foreign Relations Ministry now having to refer their names to the authorities of the two countries.

The government has recalled all politically appointed heads of Sri Lanka's overseas missions.
