Sri Lanka, Nov. 30 -- The Public Health Inspectors (PHI) Union yesterday warned that the COVID-19 pandemic had reached an 'uncontrollable' level within the Colombo Municipal Council city limits as a high number of patients were being detected on a daily basis.

PHI Union Secretary M. Balasuriya said that alarming numbers were continuing to be detected from areas under isolation while patients were also being detected from areas that were not under travel restrictions within the CMC city limits.

Balasuriya said that following the detection of a COVID-19 patient, measures must be taken to hospitalise the patient, trace close associates, conduct PCR tests and place them in quarantine - all within the course of a day, to prevent a spread.
