Sri Lanka, Sept. 27 -- The 21 garbage containers that were illegally imported were ordered to be shipped back to the United Kingdom, Customs media spokesman and Director Sunil Jayawardanne said.

He said 263 garbage containers were illegally imported into the country in December 2017 from the UK and 21of them were re-exported by the ship SEAMAX NORWALK, (V/039R) last evening.

Court cases are ongoing with regard to the remaining 242 garbage containers out of which 112 containers are placed at the Colombo Port.

A total of 130 containers had been cleared form the Customs already and taken to the Katunayake Investment Zone.
