Mumbai, April 21 -- Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, on Saturday underscored the pivotal role of youth power - Yuva Shakti - and knowledge in building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). Addressing a lively gathering at Sreeram Academy, Pathsala, on the occasion of its 20th Foundation Day, the Minister urged students to step beyond textbooks and embrace innovation, moral values, and holistic living.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Sonowal emphasised the role of students in nation-building. "Knowledge is power, and students must acquire it and apply it effectively for the greater good," he stated, encouraging the young minds present to think creatively and act responsibly.
He further highlighted key national programmes like Digital India, Make in India, and Skill India, which he said are aimed at empowering the youth to lead and innovate. "New ideas and innovative thinking of students must be harnessed. They are the true drivers of India's progress," he added.
Sonowal also drew attention to the importance of value-based education, calling on parents and teachers to instil moral and civic responsibility in children. "Education rooted in moral values must be prioritised. Raise children to be responsible citizens," he urged.
He went on to promote the integration of Yoga and holistic health practices in daily life, noting their role in ensuring balance and clarity. "Yoga is not just physical exercise; it is a way of life that brings mental clarity and physical strength. It helps one stay focused, balanced, and healthy," he affirmed.
The Foundation Day celebrations featured a vibrant showcase of student talent through cultural performances in music, dance, and drama, much to the delight of the assembled guests.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Phanidhar Talukdar, MLA of Bhawanipur Constituency, Shri Dhanpati Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Bhattadev University, and Dr. Kakali Das, Principal of Sreeram Academy, along with local luminaries, parents, and alumni.
The event marked a significant milestone in the academy's journey, celebrating two decades of educational excellence and community engagement.
