Mumbai, April 21 -- Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday cleared infrastructure projects worth Rs 2.47 billion during a high-level review of the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) in Gandhinagar. The focus: improving key highways and connectivity to support industrial growth and reduce traffic congestion.
Among the major greenlights is the Rs 8 billion upgrade of the Shantipura-Khoraj stretch on the Ahmedabad-Viramgam-Maliya corridor into a six-lane highway. The project is expected to enhance access to the Sanand GIDC belt and attract fresh investments to the region.
CM Patel also reviewed progress on ongoing GSRDC works worth nearly Rs 30 billion, spanning 188.9 km. These include the Bharuch-Dahej six-lane elevated corridor, the Bharuch-Dahej Expressway, the Vataman-Pipli and Bhuj-Bhachau high-speed corridors, upgrades to Kim-Mandvi Road, and a railway overbridge near Sachana.
The Chief Minister also approved four new underpasses on the Bhuj-Bhachau route - near the BKT Factory and Dhaneti, Bhadroi, and Dudhai villages - at a combined cost of Rs 760 million. Two more underpasses on the Vataman-Pipli corridor, including one near Bhetadiya Dada Temple, were cleared for Rs 286 million.
Officials said the underpasses are designed to improve safety by separating local and long-distance traffic while easing congestion on key stretches.
