Mumbai, April 7 -- The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has invited bids for operations and maintenance (O&M) services for its Phase two metro expansion, covering Corridor three (Madhavaram-SIPCOT) and Corridor four (Lighthouse-Poonamallee). This move aims to ensure smooth operations, improved service efficiency, and enhanced passenger experience for the city's expanding metro network.

The O&M contractor will handle train operations, station management, safety protocols, and upkeep of rolling stock and infrastructure. This contract is crucial for sustaining high service quality, minimising disruptions, and maintaining seamless connectivity in Chennai's growing metro system.

Phase two spans 118.9 km and is expected to boost urban mobility, ease road congestion, and promote eco-friendly public transit. The corridors under this contract will serve key commercial, residential, and industrial zones, significantly benefiting daily commuters.

With rising demand for reliable public transport, CMRL is prioritising timely execution and world-class maintenance standards. The metro expansion aligns with Chennai's long-term vision for modern infrastructure, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable mass transit for the city's residents.
