India, Nov. 13 -- Retail inflation surged to 4. 62% in October mainly on account of higher food prices according to latest government data.The inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 3.99% in September and 3.38% in October 2018.The inflation in the food basket spiked to 7.89% in October 2019 as against 5.11% the preceding month.Core inflation which excludes energy and food items was mapped at 3.5% in comparison to 4% a month ago.
