Mumbai, May 16 -- The frontline indices traded with modest losses in mid-morning trade, amid the emergence of profit-taking after a sharp rally in the previous trading session. Weakness in Bharti Airtel, SBI and negative Asian cues weighed on sentiment. The Nifty traded below the 25,000 level. Pharma shares declined after rising for four straight sessions.

At 11:29 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, declined 381.38 points or 0.46% to 82,149.36. The Nifty 50 index fell 100.20 points or 0.40% to 24,961.45.

Bharti Airtel (down 2.77%) and SBI (down 1.70%) emerged as key drags on the indices.

The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.52% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index added 0.77%.
