Mumbai, Sept. 24 -- The frontline equity benchmarks traded with modest losses in the mid-afternoon trade, weighed down by renewed concerns over potential changes to U.S. H-1B visa regulations. Sustained foreign institutional outflows further dampened hopes of a festive-season demand revival. The Nifty traded below the 25,150 level.

Private Bank share declined after advancing in the past trading session.

At 14:28 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex slipped 300.15 points or 0.37% to 81,801.95. The Nifty 50 index lost 82.90 points or 0.33% to 25,086.60.

In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.63% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index declined 0.24%.
