Mumbai, Feb. 11 -- The domestic equity benchmarks ended with major losses on Tuesday following US President Donald Trump's announcement of 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. The market sentiment was further subdued by continued selling from foreign institutional investors (FIIs). The Nifty settled below the 23,100 level. All the sectoral indices on the NSE ended in the red, with realty, media and healthcare shares declining the most.

As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, tanked 1,018.20 points or 1.32% to 76,293.60. The Nifty 50 index lost 309.80 points or 1.32% to 23,071.80. In five consecutive trading sessions, the Sensex and Nifty lost 2.91% and 2.81%, respectively.
